DIPLOMA COMPLETION PROGRAM
Our Diploma Completion Programs were developed to allow adults, who have not completed high school, the opportunity to earn an accredited high school diploma; which will increase their upward mobility and the region’s workforce capacity. This program not only strengthens the families but also our region’s ability to recruit major employers.

COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP FAIR
Our annual College Scholarship Fair connects more than 1,500 High School Seniors with more than 60 Higher Education Admission Officers and Career Tech Educators, that assist them with pathways to post-secondary education. All application fees are waived, which allows each student the ability to participate regardless of their socio-economic status.

DROP-OUT RECOVERY PROGRAM
Through a partnership with the Alabama State Department of Education, we have employed a model where students who have dropped out of high school, will be able to complete their educational journey and receive a Diploma from the High School in which they began in the community in which they live.

COVENANT COMMUNITY
Covenant Community Fellowship is a community-based strategy designed to identify and build the household of faith that are safe places within the community. These places are not only concerned with the spiritual wellness of the families that they serve, but also the educational needs, the felt needs, and the economies of the families. The goal is that these organizations would work to holistically meet the needs of hurting families in every area of their life.

OPERATION WARM
Operation Warm Birmingham was founded with the belief that no child should have to go to school without the proper outerwear during the winter months. During this time, Mission Alabama mobilizes the whole church to reach the whole city by raising money, volunteers, and in-kind contributions to ensure that every child that needs a warm coat for the walk to school, the walk home, and unfortunately for some being able to keep warm in homes they lack electricity or heating will have the opportunity to receive one. During the winter seasons, we invite the faith community, the corporate community, the nonprofit community, and schools to work together to make sure that every child has a warm coat.

READY DAY ONE
Ready day one is composed of two initiatives. The first is the campaign to begin the clarion call for families to begin to prepare their students for the first day of school. All too often the children in our urban and rule communities began school two to three weeks late. Adding to a learning gap that already exists in our underserved communities. By partnering with the local school systems, media outlets, and Churches, the Ready Day One Campaign promotes the importance of having children in school ready to learn on day one.

FIVE POINTS WEST CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
The Five Points West Chamber of Commerce was established to unite and empower the businesses of Birmingham’s Five Points West. We will achieve this mission by implementing growth-oriented initiatives, partnering with local officials, schools, nonprofits, and businesses, and leading campaigns that support the area’s economy. We are building a stronger Birmingham and paving the way for our city’s current and future entrepreneurs.

JOB TRANSITION PROGRAM: HIGH SCHOOL CAREER FAIR
Our Job Transition Program creates a bridge to connect Central Alabama employers and tomorrow’s workforce with one another. The culmination of the program, at the end of each academic school year, will bring more than 2,000 High School Seniors to engage the top employers from the Career Clusters that will be hiring Alabama workers for the next twenty years as determined by Blueprint 2020.

CITY SERVE ALABAMA
Mission Alabama and Covenant Community Fellowship Church are excited to join together to launch CityServe Alabama. CityServe Alabama is a state-wide Faith-based initiative that empowers churches to reach local families, who are hurting, with the proclamation and demonstration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. CityServe Alabama will provide resources to local churches, foster care families, school systems, and disaster victims to strengthen the economy of the families and to build the resiliency of families and communities to overcome disasters as well as personal tragedies.

FIVE POINTS WEST COMMUNITY ALLIANCE
The Five Points West Community Alliance is a grassroots initiative created to involve the whole community in forging solutions to problems that have gone unsolved, unaddressed within the community that is west of I-65, and downtown Birmingham. This initiative brings our non-profit sector, education sector, business sector, grassroots sector, and neighborhood and city government representatives to the same table to forge solutions with the citizens that call the Five Points West Community their home. This is a true example of being able to realize that we, as a community, are stronger together when we put the whole team of leaders on the field.

HOUSING STABILIZATION PROGRAM
Mission Alabama coordinated relief to families that were displaced from their homes during the 2011 tornado disaster. Through this experience, we have discovered that there is a significant need for low-income housing for numerous families in our service area. This project focuses primarily on stabilizing the communities in western and eastern Jefferson County that have been greatly impacted by foreclosures (i.e. have the designated needs score as assigned by HUD) and have a commitment from their municipal leaders to see the areas revitalized through joint efforts of multiple organizations.
